Logan Square, which runs from Broad Street to the Schuylkill River between Market and Spring Garden Streets, is a neighborhood filled with public art. It’s home to world-class works, from the sculptures lining the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, to major cultural institutions like the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

On the steps leading up to the art museum is the infamous Rocky statue, memorializing the fictional South Philly boxer. Millions of people travel to Philly every year to view and take pictures with the statue.

But why does our city have a statue of a movie character? Hear from Paul Farber, director of Monument Lab, about why people love keeping his legacy alive 🎧

Of course, the city that was named after love has artworks dedicated to this universal emotion. You can find the iconic LOVE sculpture at 15th Street and JFK Boulevard.

Marguerite Anglin, public art director for the City’s Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, shares where the LOVE sculpture came from and how it became so recognizable 🎧

Just a short walk away, you can find the six-foot-tall Amor statue, which was created by the same artist. Amor means love in Spanish, and it was installed as a companion artwork to the LOVE sculpture.

For a good meal, I recommend Unit Su Vege on Hamilton Street. It’s a vegan Chinese restaurant with amazing bubble tea, Shanghai dumplings, mapo tofu, and spicy rice noodle soup.

Be sure to also check out Sabrina’s Cafe, at 1804 Callowhill, for delicious lattes, challah french toast, and breakfast burritos. It’s got a super cozy vibe.
