National Doughnut Day is this Friday, June 2, but why not celebrate all week by trying different shops throughout the city? Here’s a few of my recommendations, and some of yours!
If you’ve never had a mochi (Japanese rice cake) doughnut, you’re in for a wonderful experience. Head to Mochinut on 1023 Arch Street for super chewy and gorgeously decorated sweet treats 🍩
Federal Donuts is a Philly original chain that also sells coffee and fried chicken. My favorite flavors are strawberry lavender and cookies and cream.

Federal Donuts has eight locations across the city. (Brittany Valentine/City Cast Philly)
Hey Philly reader Morgan S. recommends trying out Hello Donuts in East Kensington. This store keeps customers coming back with a rotating menu of mouth-watering flavors.
Of course, we can’t forget about Reading Terminal Market. Hey Philly reader Hayes R. insists that Amish-made Beiler’s Doughnuts are the best, “hands down, no competition.” My favorites are the cinnamon sugar and oreo cream 🤤
Hey Philly reader Trish D. also came in hot with these three recommendations:
“Fresh Donuts between 39th and 40th on Lancaster Avenue in Philadelphia. Here you can get a refreshing smoothie to go with your yummy donut!
Cafetería & Panadería Las Rosas on the corner of 8th and Watkins. Fresh, tasty and larger than average.
Varallo Brothers Bakery on the corner of 10th and Morris. Simply fresh and out of this world.”
We want to try them all!
