Should Cyclists Pass Through Red Lights & Stop Signs?

A new bill is proposing that bicyclists treat red lights and stop signs as a yield sign and proceed through intersections if it’s safe to do so. Currently state law requires bicyclists abide by the same rules as drivers, such as waiting to proceed until the light turns green, but advocates say that actually creates more risk on the roads. Second ‘ICE Out’ Law Targeted by Feds

The U.S. Justice Department is now challenging Philadelphia over an ordinance that prohibits city workers from keeping a person in custody long enough just to be transferred to federal immigration agents. Philly’s Adult Literacy Crisis Is Much More Nuanced

Center City ‘Chucky’ Arrested in Las Vegas

Federal marshals tracked down 22-year-old Zymire Hughes in Nevada, where he lives, after he was accused of threatening and harassing people in Center City last week. The suspect chased passersby in a creepy mask, but that didn’t stop one woman from reportedly kicking him in the chest. [6ABC]

Mixteca | 2113 E. York St. (East Kensington)

This New York agave bar and restaurant moved into the former site of Martha. Mixteca will serve agave interpretations of classic drinks as well as alcohol-free options. Though the New York site has a limited food menu, Philly’s will be extensive with dishes such as hamachi ceviche and Yucatan shrimp tacos. Patrons can dine at either the bar, lounge, outdoor patio, or private mezzanine.

Anh Em Bar & Kitchen | 1252 S. 21st St. (Point Breeze)

Anh Em is turning staple Vietnamese comfort and street foods into an elevated experience at its 45-seat restaurant. Dishes include seared octopus, baked lemongrass chicken rice platter, and bánh mì (think Vietnamese hoagie). The restaurant also serves vegan options such as bánh xèo, a savory, crispy crèpe.

Tien’s Cafe | 450 E. Wyoming Ave. (Feltonville)

Craving more Vietnamese food, but don’t live in South Philly? Check out Tien’s Cafe, a family-owned sit-down restaurant in North Philly. Diners can warm up with a variety of rice noodle soups or cool off with Vietnamese black iced coffee. The cafe is open every day except Tuesday.

Bar Cicci | 1620 Sansom St. (Rittenhouse)

Restaurateur Ellen Yin’s latest venture is giving guests a taste of Italy. Bar Cicci’s inspired by Yin’s trips to Northern Italy and the country’s casual drinking culture, which is why it has an all-day cafe and aperitivo hour.

In Crust We Trust | 965 Frankford Ave. (Fishtown)

Inspired by Black culinary traditions, the pizza at In Crust We Trust is not your typical slice of tomato pie. Each slice represents a different part of Philly, from the Uptown Crown (topped with oxtail, tomato, mozzarella, roasted peppers, collard greens, and tomatoes) to The Bottom (jerk chicken, jerk mozzarella, pineapple, hot honey). The food at this pizzeria is also halal.
