Philly invented some iconic candies and is home to several businesses where you can find them year-round. If you want to feel like a kid in a candy store, here are some shops to check out.

All Aboard Candy | 233 S. 20th St.

Two childhood friends gained an online following after their “candy charcuterie boards” exploded in popularity on TikTok in 2020. All Aboard Candy took the success offline and opened a brick-and-mortar store this past June in Rittenhouse Square. The shop offers “pick and mix” candy-by-the-pound, signature candy boards, and candy-themed home decor.

Shane Confectionery | 110 Market St.

Known as America’s oldest candy store, the shop first opened its doors in Old City in 1863, with the Shane family taking over in 1911. Now run by the owners behind Franklin Fountain, the confectionery maintains the vintage aesthetic and still uses traditional recipes for its candies.

lil sweet treat | 1527 Walnut St.

lil sweet treat is a pop of color nestled between the beige storefronts along Walnut Street. The shop sources candy from around the globe and offers gluten-free, dairy-free, gelatin-free and vegan selections. Just scoop up and mix your treats to grab-and-go!

Sweet As Fudge Candy Shoppe | 1136 Arch St.

The Reading Terminal Market is a classic stop for Philadelphians and visitors alike who want to taste food across cultures and flavor profiles. If you’re looking for something sweet, stop by Sweet As Fudge Candy Shoppe. The signature chocolate is made by the family behind Bieler’s Doughnuts, with cut-to-order slabs available in mint chocolate swirl, crème brûlée, and tiger butter.

Mueller Chocolate Co. | 1136 Arch St.

While you’re in the Reading Terminal Market, don’t forget to visit Mueller Chocolate Co. Known for its anatomically correct chocolate hearts, you can also get chocolate-covered pretzels, truffles, or even a chocolate-covered onion if you’re feeling adventurous.

Anthony’s Italian Coffee & Chocolate House | 903 S. 9th St.

Owned by the same family for over a century, this Italian Market staple that once sold seafood is a one-stop shop for coffee, chocolate, and gelato.

Lore’s Chocolates | 34 S. 7th St.

For over 50 years, this family of chocolatiers has made over 100 varieties of chocolate and confections. While you can get an assortment of chocolates and chocolate-colored fruits, you can also get a taste of Philly thanks to its LOVE chocolates.
