Your Daily Guide

Did someone say “news quiz”? Oh, wait, that was me. I’ve got this week’s local current events trivia ready for you, and IMO, it’s a pretty fun one. It’s five questions and takes just two minutes … and I’m willing to look the other way if you refer back to previous editions of Hey Philly to figure out the answers 👀

Philly Chatter: Where To Go Leaf Peeping

We’ve got a good bit of time before the leaves start changing in and around Philly — SmokyMountains.com predicts we’ll see peak autumn colors around late October.

But it’s never too early to start daydreaming about the best ways to get lost in our region’s beautiful foliage. (Can you tell I’m a fall girlie?)

Earlier this week, I shared some resources for tracking the Philly area’s leaf colors as they change — and I also asked Hey Philly readers to share your favorite spots to see fall foliage both inside and outside the city. Here’s what some of you said.

🍁 Pennypack Park in Northeast Philly is Patti’s Philly pick.

👟 Kavya U. likes to hit some of Philly’s great trails, like the Trolley Trail in Fairmount Park and Forbidden Drive in Wissahickon Valley Park.

🚶 Pam W. enjoys weekly hikes around the Wissahickon with her local hiking and adventure club.

⛰️ Francis E. Walter Dam in Luzerne County and anywhere around the Delaware Water Gap are on Emmy G.’s list of favorite leaf peeping spots.

🏛️ Within Philly, Jos W. likes to enjoy the fall colors by the reflecting pool at the Barnes Foundation.

  • 🌳 Outside the city, Jos recommends Reeds Gap State Park in Mifflin County, about a three-hour drive from Philly: “I haven't done fall there but I bet it would be fantastic.”

🚆 My rec?Enjoy the foliage from SEPTA. Just like in a car, you can cover a lot of ground while sitting down. But you don’t have to stress about keeping your eyes on the road or paying for gas or tolls. A one-day “Anywhere” pass costs $13.
