🎤 Go Out
- Philadelphia Auto Show: This annual event for car lovers is back January 13–21. Check out luxury brands, take a spin in an electric truck, or just appreciate the craftsmanship of unique custom vehicles. Admission is $20.
- Concerts at City Winery: Acts at this Center City venue in January include producer/pianist Robert Glasper, a tribute to David Bowie, and singer Chanté Moore. Prices vary.
- Milk Boy Comedy Jam: The last Sunday of every month, Milk Boy’s South Street location has a free comedy night, with drink specials like $5 mixed drinks, $3 shots, and $3 for a can of beer. The next jam is January 28 at 8 p.m.
- Dry Vibes: Calling all “dry January”-doers. On Saturday, January 20, this celebration of sobriety is coming to Location 215 in Callowhill. It features panels, a dance party, and nonalcoholic beverages. Hours are 12–7 p.m. and tickets are $33.33.
🥟 Grab a Bite or a Drink
- Center City District Restaurant Week: Get a deal on a prix fixe meal at some of the city’s best restaurants from January 21–February 3. (Our producer Abby Fritz wants to hit up Osteria). Prices range from $20 for lunch to $45–60 for dinner.
- Gilda Café and Market: This Portuguese-inspired breakfast and lunch joint opened in Fishtown in 2023. We’re excited to try their pastéis de nata, or Portuguese custard tarts, and a bowl of potato and kale soup.
- Nepali Momo Kitchen: New dumpling spot alert! Nepali Momo Kitchen opened in Fairmount at the end of last year and offers an array of momos: steamed, fried, or spice-covered dumplings.
🪴 Visit a Greenhouse
- Longwood Gardens: The greenhouse at this Chester County estate includes a sunlit room stocked with orchids and a living “green wall” covered in ferns and other vegetation. It’s the perfect antidote to the winter blues. Admission is $25–30 for adults.
- Fairmount Park Horticulture Center: Looking for a free tropical garden escape? The greenhouse at the Horticulture Center at Fairmount Park is open six days a week from 9 a.m.–3 p.m., so you can bask in a jungle-like setting all year.
🤸 Get Limber
- Acro &: Take a class to boost your mobility and joint strength or to impress your friends by learning to do a handstand. Classes are located in Center City and Fairmount and start at $25 for a drop-in.
- Whitman Library in South Philly: Another freebie: this Pennsport library offers free yoga classes every Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. No yoga mat required!
