The humble waffle is an underratedly versatile food, and Philadelphia has plenty of restaurants that offer it in a variety of different forms. Go beyond Eggos with the local waffle recommendations we’ve gathered.

Hey Philly reader Gregg W. recommends the “outstanding” chicken and waffle during weekend brunch.

📍 Society Hill

Ever hear of an Oreo waffle? They’ve got one here, alongside a few other waffle-centric dishes.

📍 Cecil B. Moore

You’ve got options here: Have a plain waffle, pick from a number of sweet drizzles, try strawberries and cream topping, or get one loaded with eggs, cheese, and a protein of your choice. You can also order a Dutch-style Stroopwaffle. This spot comes recommended by Hey Philly reader Roxanne G.

📍 Manayunk

Chicken tenders, poached eggs, maple syrup, and hot sauce hollandaise top a buttermilk waffle in a dish called the “fried chicken benedict.” Hey Philly reader Jerry C. recommends hitting up the “best of their locations” at 13th & Locust.

📍 Multiple Locations

This dessert cafe lets you load up a waffle with toppings like mango, nutella, and Thai durian ice cream.

📍 Chinatown and Oxford Circle

Sweet meets savory in this spot’s “Going Back to Cali Sandwich”: fried chicken breast, cheddar, and sriracha BBQ sauce served on a “sugar waffle bun.”

📍 Northern Liberties
